A special a cappella Tuesday Tunes

As I’ve said before, ad nauseum, I love music. With few exceptions, my interests vary, from fifties country to sixties pop and emerging heavy rock to classical masterpieces both old and new. A beautiful and harmonious blend of instruments, with or without voices, has been known to bring me to tears.
A cappella, though, occupies another level of musical splendor. Many of us can carry a tune when we have a melody to follow, but few can do that without the benefit of instruments keeping us from straying. To me, there is nothing worse than hearing a star singing off-key. The most common error is a singer going flat. I don’t care how beautiful the song or masterful the accompaniment, one flat note is enough to ruin a performance. I’ve been accused of nitpicking, but I cannot bear listening to a voice that doesn’t blend with their band, backing symphony, etc.
With my rant out of the way, let me introduce you to Voiceplay, a fantastic group from Orlando, Florida. I followed a link in an article online and was bowled over by not only their incredible harmonies, but the production values of their music videos. This is not their first video, but the one I discovered and I thought it was great:
Here is another I can’t praise enough:
I have to confess that hearing Geoff Castellucci, their bass singer, sends chills up and down my spine. I’ve always sung bass in any group I’ve been a part of, from family to church choirs, and this man’s voice is, if you’ll pardon my saying, music to my ears:
Another thing that sets this group apart is their use of guest singers to enhance their performances. I love their music and hope they keep performing together for many years.
