What’s Up Wednesday? A few of my favorite things.

In all honesty, I really don’t have much to say, so I’m going to tell you about a few of my favorite things, In no special order:
- I love the Minions movies. They are a bit of fun in an increasingly dark world. Watching these inept but surprisingly effective dimwits always improves my mood.
- To nobody’s surprise, I absolutely adore dogs, of all shapes and varieties. Of course, my border collie and shepherd are at the top of my list, but my son just adopted a Bernese Mountain dog, so I plan to visit him to meet the precious pooch. They are a beautiful animal, although short-lived.
- Camping is a favorite pastime. In my opinion, nothing beats the joy of spending the night in a tent, preferably in the Canadian Rockies or the Black Hills area of South Dakota.
- And what is a camping trip without a couple of dogs to enjoy the great outdoors with? You haven’t lived until you’ve hiked a trail with your canine companions. We walk the trails around here all the time. I tend to avoid the ones favored by rattlesnakes, but those are a few miles out of town, so not a big problem.
- Music is a passion. I have limited experience in playing guitar, both four string bass and six string regular, but I didn’t take advantage of an opportunity to acquire that skill. The same goes for the piano. My mother taught us all to play, but I didn’t stick with it. I purchased a good quality instrument a few years ago, but issues with sight and coordination due to age and other infirmities defeated my best efforts.
- That doesn’t stop me from losing myself in a beautiful performance. As I have stated in previous posts, my tastes run the gamut from classical to rock and country. I don’t listen to rap or hip-hop; there’s just too much profanity and antisocial messages in those genres.
- Spring and summer. These two seasons are my favorite. Spring is the best, because warmer weather and the world turning green inspires me every year. Summer is a close second. I suffer from wanderlust each year, but we don’t go much further than Regina to visit our children. My wife finds it difficult to spend hours in a car and she can’t hike, so there’s not much sense in going anywhere.
I hope today finds you in good spirits and enjoying yourself. If not, take my advice and do something you love, either indoors or out. Your mood will improve. Take care.
